The new link to the Gaislachkogl is both a technical and architectural masterpiece. A 3S lift and a 8-MGD replace the DLM built in 1988. With an hourly capacity of 3,600 passengers, the 8-passenger gondola lift is the world's top-performing lift of its kind. The 3S, for its part, also boasts some impressive technical world firsts. As the 200-ton tower 3 and the top station are situated in the permafrost zone, they have special foundations. As well as being permanently ventilated, these are equipped with a hydraulic system that can be used to compensate for any ground displacement. In addition, a revolutionary new evacuation concept was developed which does away with the need for an independent rescue ropeway and ensures that the gondolas can always be returned to the stations.
